A man named Ibrahim Ali has been arrested by the Adamawa State Command of the Nigerian Police for being in possession of a stolen Toyota Starlet.
This breakthrough was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Adamawa State Command, Superintendent Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to the police spokesperson, the car, with registration number JMT 317 RY, was found in Ali's possession at the time of his arrest.
Superintendent Nguroje further confirmed that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 10 April 2024.
He explained that officers from Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations when they apprehended the suspect.
The statement said that during questioning, Ali reportedly admitted to stealing the car from somewhere in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Superintendent Nguroje said in the statement that Adamawa Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris has appealed to the public, especially anyone whose vehicle has been stolen, to come to Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters with proof of ownership to claim the recovered Toyota Starlet.
