After sifting through over 60 applications, the NFF shortlisted several coaches, including Nigerians Emmanuel Amunike and Michael Nsien, who currently coaches the USA U20 team.
Three European coaches also made the cut: Danny Buijs (Netherlands), Domènec Torrent (Spain), and Toni Conceição (Portugal).
A Look at the Foreign Coaches
Danny Buijs (Netherlands)
Youngest on the list at 41.
Currently manages Eredivisie club Fortuna Sittard.
Won the KNVB Cup with Feyenoord in 2008 and the Scottish League Cup with Kilmarnock in 2012 as a player.
Most managerial experience came at FC Groningen (50 wins, 60 losses in 138 matches).
Domènec Torrent (Spain)
Known for his possession-based football philosophy. Gained prominence as Pep Guardiola's assistant coach at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City.
Had short, unsuccessful stints as head coach of New York City FC and Flamengo. Most recently managed Galatasaray in 2022.
Toni Conceição (Portugal)
Played his entire club career in Portugal. Won two league titles and four cup honors as CFR Cluj manager in Romania.
Led Cameroon to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal but was sacked afterwards.
Currently without a job.
