Adamawa Steps Up Sports Game with Training, New Stadium on the Horizon

The Adamawa State Sports Council is taking a big leap forward in boosting the state's sporting scene. In collaboration with the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Lagos, they recently held a 5-day capacity building workshop in Yola, the state capital.

The workshop targeted coaches, sports administrators, game masters, and physical and health education teachers, equipping them with the latest knowledge and skills to elevate sports development within the state.

This initiative reflects Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's commitment to reviving Adamawa's sporting activities and propelling the state towards achieving global standards. Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Yakubu Wali, emphasized this goal while addressing participants, urging them to utilize their newfound knowledge and implement innovative strategies to achieve sporting excellence.

The news doesn't stop there. Commissioner Wali also announced the exciting commencement of a project to build a modern stadium in Adamawa State, kicking off in May 2024. This state-of-the-art facility will undoubtedly provide a world-class platform for athletes to train and compete.

The workshop itself proved a resounding success, with a high turnout exceeding expectations. Commissioner Wali applauded the participants' dedication and commended the organizers, including the National Institute of Sports, Lagos. He highlighted the importance of this workshop in providing a valuable opportunity to expand participants' knowledge and further develop the state's sporting landscape.

This focus on sports development extends beyond the workshop. The Adamawa State Sports Council, led by Director Daniel Ahmed, is actively engaging with sports secretaries across all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs). This collaboration aims to support game masters in secondary schools, fostering a strong foundation for sporting activities at the grassroots level.

The workshop concluded with participants from across the 21 LGAs receiving certificates of attendance. This collective effort signifies Adamawa's commitment to nurturing a vibrant sporting culture that benefits the entire state.
