Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration has unveiled a significant road network project in Federal Housing Estate, Bajabure, Girei Local Government Area, as part of its urban renewal programme for the Federal Housing Estate.
Totalling an impressive 18.3 kilometres, the new network will be one of the Governor's largest single initiatives, as he highlighted during the project's launch ceremony on Monday.
The scheme will see the construction of a substantial main access road stretching 3.5 kilometres, boasting a generous carriageway width of 10.3 metres. This will be complemented by a network of service roads snaking throughout the estate, each with a carriageway width of 8 metres and collectively extending for 14.8 kilometres.
MSSR Triacta Nig. Ltd has been awarded the contract to deliver the project, with an anticipated completion timeframe of 12 months.
The governor outlined two key achievements: over 400km of rural roads constructed and numerous communities connected to the national electricity grid.
He said this programme aims to make Adamawa State an attractive investment destination and a leader in the northeastern region. The state is already undergoing a transformation into an investment hub, attracting domestic and international investors. This success is inspiring other states in the region to adopt similar strategies.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks the government's commitment to delivering long-lasting benefits for its residents.
The Commissioner for Works and Energy, Alh Adamu Atiku Abubakar, described the event as the unveiling of a promised project which, he believes, will be built to the highest standards to ensure its longevity.
He added that the project will ease movement and access, boost property values, and attract investment to the area. He called on residents to take full ownership of the project.
In his remarks, Engineer Ghassan Ghanem, Project Manager for the Yola office of Triacta Nigeria Limited, assured those present that the firm will deliver high-quality work and complete the project within the agreed timeframe.
Elder Vincent Adendu, speaking on behalf of the community, expressed his appreciation to the Governor for the project and assured him of their continued prayers and support for the state's continued progress and development.
Dr Ahmed Mustafa, District Head of Girei and Ubandoma Adamawa, thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for undertaking numerous projects in Girei and pledged the continued support of the people.
