Man City back on top of Premier League after 4-0 win over Fulham

By Barnabas Augustine Right, Manchester City are back on top of the Premier League table after a thumping 4-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

That puts them two points ahead of Arsenal, who face a tricky one at Old Trafford against Manchester United tomorrow.

If the Gunners drop points, City can clinch the title as early as Tuesday when they travel to Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola's lot, who could be the first team to win four Premier titles in a row, were right on it down in west London. 

They squeezed the life out of Fulham by keeping the ball for ages, before nicking the lead in the 13th minute.

Left-back Gvardiol got on the ball down the flank, did a one-two with Kevin De Bruyne, then cut inside on his weaker right foot and finished like a natural-born striker past Bernd Leno.

Guardiola went for a tall team with four proper centre-backs at the back. This meant City dominated the aerial battles and loose balls, with Bernardo Silva having a pop from the edge of the box to test Leno.

Fulham just couldn't get going. Injuries forced Nathan Ake off and his replacement, Kyle Walker, easily dealt with the experienced Willian, leaving the home side with no way to get the ball to their striker Rodrigo Muniz.

City nearly doubled their lead from a corner. They played it short, and De Bruyne's whipped cross found Manuel Akanji unmarked at the back post, but the Swiss defender fluffed his lines and skied it over.

Marco Silva made a change at half-time, bringing on the speedy Adama Traore for the invisible Willian.

Traore got past Gvardiol twice in quick succession, creating Fulham's best chance of the match. His low cross found Muniz, but Ederson pulled off a great save with a strong hand.

Classic City though, they stayed patient at the back before pouncing for a second. Silva tricked Antonee Robinson with a lovely first touch, then cut inside and played it short to Foden, who smashed home his 25th goal of the season with a first-time shot.

Gvardiol got a touch on Silva's cross to the back post, and a rare mistake by Leno let the ball trickle over the line to make it 3-0.

Then, deep into injury time, Issa Diop got a second yellow for a silly challenge in the box, and sub Julian Alvarez tucked away the penalty to wrap up a convincing away win.
