Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed his deep sorrow over the recent fire at the Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi, which devastated the Faculty of Management Sciences.
Following a three-day working visit to Mubi, the Governor made a special visit to the university to offer his condolences to staff and students. He pledged the government's full support in rebuilding the affected building to restoring normal academic activities as swiftly as possible.
Governor Fintiri emphasised the importance of ADSU to both the state government and its people. He assured them that the government would take all necessary steps to ensure the university retains its prestigious position within Nigeria's educational landscape.
The Governor revealed plans for a significant government investment to renovate and repair the fire-damaged building. He also announced that the university's water supply system would be addressed within the next few weeks.
Furthermore, Governor Fintiri revealed an outlined collaboration with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to establish a large-scale solar farm specifically for the university. This initiative he said is aims to provide sufficient and reliable electricity for both the existing and any future university campuses.
Upon arrival at the university, Governor Fintiri was greeted enthusiastically by students who expressed their appreciation for his ongoing support. Student representative, Comrade Frama, spoke on behalf of his peers, highlighting the ongoing challenges of water scarcity and limited electricity supply. He implored the Governor's intervention to address these critical issues.
The Governor's visit demonstrates a clear commitment to supporting ADSU through this difficult time. His focus on rebuilding, improving facilities, and tackling essential student needs paints a positive picture for the university's future.
