A UK-based aid organisation has stated that one of its senior staff members stationed in Gaza was killed on Friday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their warehouse situated within an Israeli-designated humanitarian safe zone.
The Al-Khair Foundation confirmed in a press release that the strike also claimed the lives of three employees from other aid organisations who were utilising the warehouse.
Corporal News, learned from Associated Press, that the Israeli military identified the deceased Al-Khair Foundation member, Husam Mansour, as a high-ranking Hamas militant. Israel alleges that he exploited his position within the humanitarian organisation to raise funds for Hamas.
Following a two-week-long Israeli offensive in northern Gaza, on Friday morning, dozens of bodies were retrieved from Gaza City's Tel al-Hawa district and transported to Al-Ahli Hospital.
Civil defence personnel indicated they were continuing to recover the dead and injured from the wreckage of destroyed streets and buildings.
Israel launched the conflict in Gaza in response to a Hamas attack on 7th October, during which militants infiltrated southern Israel, killing approximately 1,200 individuals – predominantly civilians – and kidnapping roughly 250.
Since that time, according to the territory's Ministry of Health, which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians in its tallies, Israeli ground offensives and bombardments have resulted in over 38,300 fatalities in Gaza.
