A 23-year-old woman has been detained by police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja following the gruesome murder of her disabled husband.
This was contained in a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh on 30 July 2024.
According to the statement, Rahimat Salaum was apprehended as she attempted to abscond from the scene with her victim’s possessions loaded into a small truck.
The statement further stated that, Detectives of Pegi Police Division were alerted to the incident after receiving a tip-off and swiftly intervened to prevent her escape.
Upon questioning, Salaum confessed to killing her husband during a domestic dispute. The body of the deceased was later discovered in a state of advanced decomposition at a derelict building.
The Police spokesman announced that the Metropolitan Police have launched a full investigation into the matter and are assuring the public that justice will be served. The PPRO further announced the he FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
