Armed Gangster Nabbed in Kano Police Raid

A daring early morning operation by Kano State Police has led to the capture of a notorious armed robber and the seizure of a substantial haul of illegal firearms.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

The statement explained that in a dramatic showdown on 5 August, officers swooped on a hideout in Yandadi Village, Kunchi Local Government Area, following a report of a violent home invasion at 2:00am. It added, the audacious robbery, which saw the victims stripped of a staggering fifteen million naira, had sparked outrage in the community.

The PPRO announced in the statement that, acting on intelligence, the police apprehended the prime suspect, Hassan Iliya, a 35-year-old believed to be the mastermind of the gang on the same day at about 6:00am Adding, the arrest took place as the crook attempted a desperate getaway on a motorcycle.

A subsequent search of the suspect's possessions uncovered a chilling arsenal.

"A spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash, totaling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand naira (N4,986,000.00)0. Investigation is ongoing",  SP Kiyawa said.
The PPRO further said that the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has commended his officers for their bravery and professionalism in bringing the dangerous criminal to justice. While urging the public to remain calm and vigilant, he has also appealed for continued cooperation with the police in the fight against crime.
