Agatu Community in Shock as Widow and Six Relatives Battle for Life

A harrowing incident has unfolded in the quiet community of Agatu, Benue State, where a widow and her six children and grandchildren were rushed to hospital after consuming a deadly meal.

The family’s desperate plight began when they unknowingly ingested a pap contaminated with agricultural chemicals.

Sources in the village reported that Amina Isah, the widow, and her young relatives, including Benjamin, Piko, Esther, Hassan Emmanuel, and two others, fell violently ill after their breakfast.

Symptoms of severe vomiting and unconsciousness prompted immediate medical intervention at a local clinic.

Dr Oyaje Sule, the clinic’s proprietor, confirmed the dire situation.

“The patients arrived in a critical condition, with three, including the grandmother, unconscious,” he stated.

Subsequent investigations revealed the horrifying truth: the family had inadvertently used guinea corn previously treated with chemicals for planting as the base for their morning meal.

The community is now rallying around the stricken family as they fight for their lives. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in everyday life, even in the most rural of settings.
