Fintiri Throws Weight Behind Grassroots Football

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, made a high-profile appearance at the grand finale of the Hon. Sulaiman Alkali Inter-Ward Football Competition. 

The football competition which was the 2nd edition, was organised by member representing Yola North in Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Sulaiman Alkali.

The eagerly anticipated clash between Nassarawo and Alkalawa Wards ended in a stalemate, with Alkalawa emerging victorious in a tense penalty shootout 4-2.

As the match kicked off, Fintiri took centre stage, underlining the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through sports. 

The Governor later presented the coveted trophy to the jubilant Alkalawa team, pledging to provide state-of-the-art sporting facilities once the ongoing stadium construction is complete. He lauded the players’ exemplary sportsmanship and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to nurturing young talent.

In stark contrast to the unrest gripping other parts of the country, the Governor commended the tournament for fostering unity and peace among the youth. He assured the crowd of his government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the state’s challenges.

Tournament benefactor and Yola North representative, Hon. Sulaiman Alkali, expressed his gratitude to all involved in the competition’s success. He echoed the Governor’s sentiments regarding peace and youth development.

Alkalawa Ward’s triumph was rewarded with a substantial N1,000,000 prize, while runners-up Nassarawo secured N500,000. Rumde Ward, who claimed third place, received N250,000.
