Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has vowed to collaborate with relevant authorities to repair the washed-away Shuwa-Gulak road in Madagali Local Government Area.

Governor Fintiri made the pledge during an on-the-spot assessment visit to sympathize with the people of Madagali LGA, who, according to a NEMA flood report, have lost six lives and millions of naira worth of property.
Governor Fintiri stated that his administration, as a responsive government, would not allow its people to suffer hardship and emphasized the need for quick palliative measures to ensure the timely repair of the washed-away road, which has severed the Shuwa Bridge from the highway.
He urged residents of flood-prone areas to relocate, warning of more rain and potential flooding. Governor Fintiri announced that his administration would establish a desk officer with NIMET to provide timely flood warnings in Adamawa State.
The governor visited Shuwa Primary School and Kirchinga Primary School, where flood victims are seeking refuge, and assured them of continued government support.
A community member of Shuwa, Samson Ijudigal, said that the heavy rainfall on Friday night had destroyed several houses and claimed lives. Another community member, Mal. Ibrahim, disclosed that the government, through NEMA, had responded promptly with relief materials.
Our correspondent reported that several houses had been destroyed and victims were picking through the rubble of collapsed buildings.
Last week, Wagga bridge in Madagali town was washed away by rain, cutting Adamawa off from Borno State. In Numan LGA, the Imbrum community has also been affected by flooding.
NIMET has predicted terrestrial rain in August and September in Adamawa and other states, warning people in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer zones.
