By Barnabas Augustine Two individuals have been apprehended by the Oyo State Police Command following the discovery of a fresh human skull in their possession. The incident, which unfolded in the Amuloko area of the state capital, sent shockwaves through the local community.
The arrests came after a video depicting the apprehension of a man, identified only as Musa, went viral. Residents in the area, reportedly suspicious of Musa's erratic behaviour, confronted him and demanded to see the contents of a sack he was carrying. To their utter horror, the inspection revealed a human skull.
OyoAffairs, an online news platform, shared the video on their platform, claiming that "a man was apprehended with a freshly severed human head in Amuloko, Ibadan earlier today. He has since been handed over to the authorities."
The suspect, according to reports, confessed to being part of a criminal syndicate involved in the sale of human body parts within the state.
In response to the incident, Police Spokesperson Osifeso Adewale confirmed the arrest of two individuals in connection with the case. He further stated that a thorough investigation has been launched to uncover the full extent of the crime.
"The case is currently under investigation," Osifeso said. "Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. We will provide further updates as they become available."
This grim discovery comes on the heels of a similar incident in Saki, Oyo State, where the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun) apprehended two men accused of exhuming the head of a recently buried body.
