Liverpool, Arsenal Lock Horns for Atalanta Star Ademola Lookman

Liverpool and Arsenal are locked in a heated battle to secure the signature of Atalanta's in-demand forward, Ademola Lookman.

The Nigerian international has become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market, following a stellar campaign in Serie A. Both Premier League giants are keen to bring the versatile attacker back to England, with Liverpool reportedly preparing a bid to bolster their frontline.

New manager Arne Slot is said to be particularly interested in Lookman, who has demonstrated his ability to play across the attacking line. His potential arrival could be even more crucial amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez.

Arsenal, too, are closely monitoring Lookman's situation. Mikel Arteta is looking to add depth to his squad, and the Nigerian's impressive goal-scoring record makes him an attractive option. However, the Gunners will need to act quickly to fend off competition from Liverpool.

Paris Saint-Germain, who had previously shown interest in Lookman, have now cooled their pursuit. This has opened the door for the Premier League duo to make their move.

Atalanta, aware of Lookman's desire to leave, have set a €50 million price tag on the forward. Meanwhile, the Italian club is already scouting potential replacements, with Fiorentina's Nico González emerging as a prime target.

Lookman's rise to prominence has been nothing short of remarkable. After a challenging spell at Everton and RB Leipzig, his move to Atalanta in 2022 proved to be a turning point. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Bergamo-based club, playing a pivotal role in their historic Europa League triumph last season.
