Communities in Adamawa State, particularly in the northern and central zones, are increasingly advocating for the establishment of traditional chiefdoms. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting such initiatives, emphasizing their potential to foster community cohesion and development.
Recently, the Yungur community of Song Local Government Area expressed gratitude to the Governor for his impactful projects and requested the restoration of their chieftaincy title. Similarly, the Həba and Kamwe communities of Hong and Michika Local Government Areas, respectively, sought the creation of new chieftaincy titles.
During separate meetings with the delegations, Governor Fintiri emphasized his administration's dedication to promoting harmony and progress across all communities. He expressed sincere appreciation for the communities' unwavering support and assured them that their developmental needs would be addressed.
General Haldu Hananiya (rtd), leader of the Həba community delegation, commended the Governor for various developmental strides, including the appointment of community members to key government positions, prioritization of education, and efforts to transfer the Federal Medical Center to Hong LGA. He formally requested the restoration and upgrade of the Huba kingdom to a First Class Chiefdom.
Musa Kamale, who led the Michika community delegation, also acknowledged the Governor's positive impact on their community, citing infrastructural development and appointments to key positions. He submitted a memorandum and draft bill for the creation of the Michika Chiefdom, expressing the community's readiness to embrace this traditional institution.
Governor Fintiri assured both communities of his support, emphasizing his commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and promoting positive development. He reiterated his willingness to consider their requests and take appropriate action.
