Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has assured the people of Ganye Chiefdom of his readiness to reconstruct the dilapidated Jada-Mbulo Road. The Governor also warned against illegal mining activities in the Chiefdom, which are considered a threat to the area.
Governor Fintiri made these statements while receiving the sons and daughters of Ganye Chiefdom, comprising individuals from Toungo, Ganye, Jada LGAs, and parts of Mayo Belwa LGA, on a courtesy visit to Government House Yola.
The Governor thanked the Chiefdom for fostering unity of purpose for the state and for embarking on the solidarity visit. He emphasised that he has never initiated projects in the state without considering Ganye Chiefdom.
"I will not leave you without committing myself to the construction of the Jada-Mbulo road. It will serve the larger communities of Jada, Mbulo, Danaba, Yebbi, and Ganye," Governor Fintiri said.
He disclosed that his government has reduced waste and improved the state's economy to benefit the people. This policy, he said, has helped the state to progress on the path of development.
Governor Fintiri announced that for the remaining years of his term, his government will focus on repositioning higher learning institutions in the state. He stated that by January of the following year, the College of Agriculture Science and Technology Ganye will be repositioned to attract external development and serve the interests of both the state and the nation.
Governor Fintiri emphasised that in 2025, his administration will concentrate on massive rural development projects.
He cautioned the people of Ganye Chiefdom about the potential dangers of illegal mining in the area. He called for collaborative efforts with locals to curb the activities of illegal miners coming to the state from other regions of the country.
He assured that his government will combat all forms of criminality until the state is rid of them.
Earlier, the spokesman of the delegation, Hon. Mohammed Inuwa Bassi, the Member representing Toungo, Ganye, Jada, and Mayo Belwa Federal Constituency, congratulated Governor Fintiri on his electoral victory and commended his uncommon approach to development in the state. He noted that the laudable projects undertaken by Governor Fintiri's administration have elevated the state to an enviable position in the country.
He assured the Governor that the electorate in Ganye is ready to elect a PDP candidate to fill the vacant position of the member representing the LGA in the State House of Assembly in the upcoming by-election, following the recent death of the incumbent.
While thanking Governor Fintiri for creating eight districts from Ganye Chiefdom out of the 22 newly created districts in the state, confirming the ALGON Chairman for the state from Ganye Chiefdom, and for numerous political appointments, they appealed to the Governor to ensure that his successor possesses the qualities, competence, and capability to fulfil his mandate.
On his part, the Gangwari Ganye, Alh. Umaru Sanda, expressed concern about the impending security threat posed by immigrants infiltrating the Chiefdom for mining purposes. He pleaded with the Governor to address their activities to prevent the Chiefdom from becoming a high-crime zone.
The Royal Father thanked the Governor for providing agricultural inputs to his people, which contributed to a bumper harvest despite the short drought experienced in the last rainy season. He assured the Governor of their unwavering loyalty and support for his administration.
