The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved ₦1,933,971,838.91 for the furnishing of the state High Court and compensation to property owners behind Jimeta Shopping Complex.
The approval was given at the first State Executive Council Meeting of 2025, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chamber in Government House, Yola.
Briefing Government House Correspondents shortly after the meeting, the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Afraimu Jingi, announced that the State Executive Council had approved ₦1,743,107,838.91 for the furnishing of High Court Complex A and B which was approved in April 2024 for remodeling and upgrade, and the newly constructed multi-purpose hall in the premises of High Court Complex A.
"This furniture is of the highest standard, the best in the world," Barrister Jingi said. "The government's commitment to quality will not be compromised. The government intends to give the High Court the very best; to provide them with the best furniture."
He said that the contract for the supply of the furniture was awarded to Logic Build Nigeria Ltd, a company with a good track record in furniture.
Also briefing Government House Correspondents on the approval for compensation to the property owners behind Jimeta Shopping Complex in the state capital, the Commissioner of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Honourable John Dabari, disclosed that the State Executive Council had approved ₦190,864,000 for the compensation.
He announced that the structures behind the shopping complex would be demolished so that it would not be aligned with the neighbourhood, secure the market and ensure its maximum security, as well as to improve the appearance of the environment.
This development comes after the shopping complex was demolished last year, and a new, ultra-modern one has been flagged off for reconstruction.
The Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Honourable Wali Yakubu, announced that the annual Governor's Cup has been restarted in the state. He said the football tournament would kick off on Sunday, 16 February 2025, at the Federal College of Education Yola football field.
