Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful for the country's future, despite the challenges it has faced over the years. In a statement signed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, marking Nigeria's 64th Independence Day, the governor emphasized the need for collective responsibility and a rejection of victimhood to overcome the nation's weaknesses.
"Nigeria has made significant progress, particularly since the return to democracy 24 years ago," Governor Fintiri said. "However, we must acknowledge the challenges we have faced and work together to address them."
The governor highlighted the importance of self-reflection and accountability in building a stronger nation. "Some of these weaknesses are within our means to correct," he stated. "But we will only succeed if we are brave and honest enough to accept responsibility for our actions and reject the convenient attitude of playing the victim and blaming others."
Fintiri assured Adamawa citizens that his administration is committed to ensuring that everyone benefits from the state's development efforts. "I commend you all for reaching this milestone, surviving pitfalls, and regaining dignity through democracy," he said. "Though 64 years is brief for a nation, we've had time to make significant changes."
He also called on Nigerians to unite in support of the government's initiatives and work towards a brighter future. "Let us work together to provide good governance and democracy dividends," Governor Fintiri said.
The governor commended the security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in the state and urged citizens to avoid compromising the hard-earned peace.
