The Adamawa State Government has stepped up its efforts to curb the spread of cholera by launching a comprehensive fumigation campaign across the state capital. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources under the supervision of Commissioner Sadiq Mohammed, is part of the state's monthly sanitation program.
Dr. Umar Garba Pella, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, led a team of government officials and a task force to monitor and enforce the sanitation exercise. Expressing deep concern over the recent cholera outbreak that has resulted in fatalities, Dr. Pella emphasized the critical link between disease and unclean environments.
He underscored that the September sanitation drive is specifically focused on combating cholera, and warned that the government would not tolerate any obstruction of its mission to restore cleanliness and dignity to the state. Dr. Pella highlighted the importance of regular sanitation exercises in maintaining public health, preventing disease, and ensuring clean water supply, proper waste management, and hygienic living conditions.
Commending the level of compliance, Dr. Garba urged all residents to actively participate in the sanitation exercise to create a cleaner and healthier Adamawa State.
