A magistrate's court in Yola, Adamawa State, has dismissed charges against the Acting Registrar of the College for Legal Studies. Musa Chiroma was accused of assaulting a female lecturer, Barr. Fadimatu Musa.
The court ordered Chiroma to pay N1,000,000 in damages to Musa and N80,000 in court costs. Additionally, he was required to issue a written apology and promise not to harass or assault her again.
Chief Magistrate Uwani Muhammed Danladi found that Chiroma had met the terms of the settlement and dismissed the case.
Chiroma was arrested on May 13, 2024, and charged with assault, obstruction of a public servant, and causing harm. The charges stemmed from an incident on April 15, 2024, when he allegedly attacked Musa for preventing a student from taking an exam without paying fees.
The Nigeria Bar Association Women Forum monitored the case and provided support to Musa.
